My English teacher
Most Chinese people these days know what it is like to have an “English teacher ” , since almost all pupils study English from the third year in school . Usually the very first English teacher for most of us is always a young and kind lady in primary school. But my first English teacher was none other than my mother. When I was a little child, she created an English environment by talking with me in English, let me listen to some English songs, and let me recognize the English words on the picture all around my room. That was really a good idea. It made me fancy to be interested in English! I’m interested in English, so I definitely was awaked when I began to learn English alphabet at school. When my English had a little progress, my mother let me remember some more English words from the English weekly or dictionary. Just imagine, I started to remember some words graally and I am “OK” to express myself more and more in English. Mother liked to have me recite, dictate and finally write the words from memory. When I make any mistakes, she will let me write the wrong words about 40 times. I could not understand how could a mother be so strict with her little son, but the English word did stay in my memory from then on.
Times passed, I eventually came to love English. My mother has been always there helping me as much as possible . I am sure that my English would never have come so far without her support . And that’s why I believe my mother is not only my English teacher but also my life long teacher. She is the one who awoke my interest, who gave me confidence and who offered me much needed help.
She, my mother, is really my good teacher.

To be a teacher able to empower others must ever be a glad distinction. As a potential teacher, I would like to tough upon the ways to become a better teacher.

A teacher doesn’t need to know and teach everything. Compared with the vast sea of knowledge, how much a teacher can get across to his students really doesn’t matter. As a matter of fact, to teach a student everything is utterly impossible.

The seemingly noble practice of trying to impart whatever a teacher is capable of is, to some extent, of no use to students who have yet to be open with receptivity.

Then, what should a teacher do for university trainings? Should teachers stop teaching the detailed knowledge any more or should they simply focus on the books and be involved in the practice of solving each puzzle in the exercises in order to show their responsibility?

Were it left for me to choose which approach I would like to take, I would not be hesitant for a moment to say that neither of them is my choice.

Here is my ideal teacher’s image:

He knows what the students need when he is standing in front of the class and observing every expression on each face. He is quite a good leader who never goes against his students’ will. He must have a potential to be an organizer capable of letting contradictory opinions coexist in a unity. He has a sure tact of getting every one involved in the endless discussion, without which youth would seem a waste of time. He would not give a requirement of having the only one right answer so that students would not be grudgingly paying attention to study but gladly involved in contributing to ideas of variety.

He is fair enough to his students that there is a common belief that nobody would beg for others’ compliments and that success should be rewarded. He is tolerant to every mind so that boys and girls would not be afraid of losing scores or being criticized or even offending him.

He is rather a man who is full of infectious thoughts. He is good at using strategies to challenge students to conquer themselves and solve their emotional problems, which to some extent, is very similar to a doctor, removing the psychological barrier. He knows that the greatest enemy of a person is oneself, thus he constantly encourages a student to go a step further, to think in depth, to come to a furthering understanding.
He should stay in a good mood and be optimistic most of the time. For a student learns by following and imitating. Incidentally being sentimental can be excused and is acceptable. Otherwise, he can’t be a complete man; moreover, he can’t be a man true to his heart. To control himself excessively or insufficiently can both be harmful, thus, moderate self-control is advised to a teacher.
I’ve dreamed for a long time to be a good teacher, in two years’ time, it is very likely for me to take.

I want to be a teacher when I listen to my teacher carefully. I think I can be a teacher when I grow up. I can help many students learn things well. I can play with my students, too. So we are good friends. I want to be a doctor when I see many doctors save their patients. To be a doctor is really great. I think I can be a doctor when I grow up. Then I can help many people out of danger. I will be the happiest girl in the world. I want to be a reporter when I watch TV every evening. We can get lots of important information from them. They make the world smaller and also make us happy. I would like to be a reporter when I grow up. And I can learn a lot about China and the other countries around the world. I can meet many superstars as well. I have lots of dreams. I think my dreams can come true one day, because there’s an old saying “where there is a will, there is a way.”
