四、研究方向

多年来把干旱地区的水资源与环境的研究作为主攻方向:⑴开展了干旱地区沙地水分调查研究:根据沙地水分、水资源的现状、土壤性质,将中国沙地划分为荒漠带、干草原带、半湿润带、亚热区湿润带五个区。⑵建立了符合中国沙地水分利用的管理模式:在对中国沙地生态系统、干旱地区造林学的特点和沙地水土特性,将中国北方沙地划分成四个造林区即:种植乔木和灌木与发展高效农业和经济作物带、种植灌木为主带、种植旱地小灌木与草本带、保护与恢复自然绿洲带。以上的划分理论对西北地区防护林生态环境建设中意义重大。⑶西北水资源开发利用阶段的分析:分析了西北水资源循环的规律,引进了水资源重复量和净水资源量的概念,促进西北干旱地区的水资源研究与计算。提出西北干旱地区水资源开发与利用阶段为:地表水开发利用阶段、地表水与地下水联合开发利用阶段、地下水开发利用阶段、水资源经济开发利用阶段四阶段,该理论的确立为开展水资源开发与生态环境保护提供了理论基础。⑷黑河流域水热传输理论的初步形成:首次对额济纳绿洲进行了土壤-植被-大气系统能量-水量传输和陆面水文过程进行长期观测,应用国际先进陆面过程模型对额济纳旗土壤、大气间水分与能量传输过程进行模拟,建立了初步的土壤-植被-大气模拟模型,形成了极端干旱地区水-土-气-生的初步理论。针对内陆河流域经济不断增长与绿洲生态系统修复的需要,提出优质饲草-节水-舍饲牧业模式,确定乔-草、灌-草林业模式和限牧、围栏、抚育措施;建立了适合极端干旱地区的生态恢复-种养殖业结构调整-水资源合理配置体系。以上的学术观点对提高中国西部节水管理起到了重要的作用。
