A gas flow programmer comprises a gas passagehaving a restriction and a valve urged to the open position by a spring and the pressure inthe passage downstream of the restriction and loaded to the closed position by thepressure of gas in a control zone which pressure is varied continuously during operationof the programmer. The control is initially charged from the gas supply and duringoperation the zone is open to exhaust through a valve which causes a linear reduction inthe pressure in the zone, thus providing a gradual increase in the flow of gas through thepassage.
